Can Anyone be an Artist?
Feb 26, 2023
I'm about to find out. At 62 years old (as of this writing) I have been thinking long and hard about what the next phase of my life is going to look like. And more importantly when it might actually start. Come to realize that if I don't actually DO something about it there won't be any next phase of my life. Or rather the next phase of my life will actually be death. We can't have that.
In addition to being a long-time professional software developer I am also an artist - thus this website. I've been painting for about ten years, sold a bunch of pieces, learned a lot and improved my skills.
Like so many others my age, I've raised a family, worked for many years (software developer), woke up one day and realized that I want to do something else. For me being a software developer has been a great career. I've had the luxury of working from home for most of my career. I've worked for some excellent companies, worked with some excellent people, made some decent money and I appreciate this opportunity I've had to do something that I've truly enjoyed.
It's time for what comes next and what comes next is an art business, my art business.
Enter Marie Forleo's B-School. I start tomorrow. Everything I've read tells me it's going to be a lot of work. Since I still work full-time it'll be a challenge but one that hopefully will set me up with a solid foundation in how to market my artwork.
On this blog I'll be documenting my process of building this new life of mine. I'd be honored if you would follow along with me, you never know... it may actually happen.
Stay tuned...
