Eleanor O’Keefe Anderson (b: 1960 White Plains, NY) is an emerging artist who paints small and medium scale oil paintings incorporating an eclectic mix of subject matter. Her paintings range from seascapes to cityscapes to non-representational and more recently narrative topics, frequently adding various natural mixed media such as sand and stone dust and dried seaweed for texture. She describes her style as ‘modern impressionistic’ with a touch of expressionism thrown in for good measure.
A career software developer and lifelong athlete, Eleanor picked up a paintbrush for the first time in 2010. After experimenting with pastels and acrylic paints for a few years she discovered the joys of oil paint. The slow drying time and thick viscosity of the medium allows her to indulge her desire to be physical and intuitive in her creative process, oftentimes applying many layers of paint to achieve her desired result.
Largely self-taught as both an artist and a software developer, Ms. Anderson has taken several classes and workshops at the Silvermine Arts Center School of Art in New Canaan, CT and the Lyme Art Association, Old Lyme, CT. She continues her artistic education with both in-person and online courses and workshops. Her work is included in numerous private collections throughout the United States.
Eleanor is a longtime resident of Ridgefield, CT and currently resides there with her husband and two dogs spending most of her time writing software, painting and hiking with her dogs.
